Board member ballots have been mailed to all members. This year, there are four positions up for reelection. Please see the Board Member FAQ section for more information.
Become a famous Fairbanks figure skater! Participate in the annual ice show, recitals and exhibitions. See yourself in the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner in advertisement photos for club activities!
Win medals and trophies at competitions. Decorate your room with your achievements in your own trophy case!
Spend time with a great group of skaters of all ages! Meet new friends that travel to Fairbanks for our competitions. Go on the road to competitions in other cities and find new long-distance friends. Hang out with other beginning skaters in the Skating School!
You will be in great physical condition as a figure skater. Learn to stretch and warm up properly. Find new muscles you have never used before! Be stronger and more flexible!
Tired of skating on crowded ice? Dodging wild hockey pucks? FFSC purchases ice for use exclusively by club members. You can practice your freestyle and dance moves to your own music!
Get on the inside track! Club members often are outgrowing their skates, and you can get in on great deals just by being in the right place (the FFSC) at the right time (when a skater has a growth spurt)!
The FFSC owns a skate sharpening machine. Be trained in skate sharpening, and have your skate blades just the way you want them, right when you need them!
All you'll feel is good! Find your hidden talents! Wash cars on a warm, sunny day! Donate your stuff to the annual garage sale! Sew costumes for shows! Operate a spotlight! Be an announcer for recitals! Wrap Christmas gifts! Sell souvenirs! Participate in the annual spaghetti feed! Think up your own ideas to help the FFSC. You will feel great about performing a community service for our wonderful club and city!
Join other club members as we all sign up together for a week or two at the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival Figure Skating Program. Spend all day long with your fellow club members taking dance, fitness and skating classes. Enjoy a picnic lunch together in the warm sun as you rest up from the morning session and gear up for the afternoon!
The FFSC has a warm and fuzzy polar fleece jacket available. It is embroidered on both the front and back with the club name and logo, and you can personalize it with your own name on the front. It will keep you warm on those chilly Fairbanks mornings!
Maybe! There are so many advantages to joining the FFSC, we could never fit them all into one pamphlet. There are group lessons offered in power skating, jumps, spins and edges. Your membership in the FFSC includes membership in the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) and a subscription to their magazine. Testing sessions are available and usually associated with competitions. And much, much, more...
Figure skating is not all work, work, work...you will learn how to concentrate and push yourself to advance and learn new skills. But there is plenty of time to visit with your new friends as you lace up your skates, stretch and warm up together, and even while you help serve pasta at the spaghetti feed!
Ready to join? Membership applications, FFSC information, and a pamphlet answering frequently asked questions, are all available on the bulletin boards at the Big Dipper Ice Arena and Polar Ice Center.
